Privacy Policy
Effective September 2, 2026 · Applies to the BarBounce mobile app
1Overview
In plain English
BarBounce needs your email, a username, and — when you choose to check in — your location. Friends you add can see where you check in for a few hours. You can delete your account and everything tied to it at any time from Settings.
This policy explains what BarBounce ("we," "us") collects when you use the app, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. BarBounce is a bar-finder and social app: it helps you find bars and clubs near your campus, see live line times and security levels reported by other patrons, check in so friends know where you're at, and share photos and comments about the places you go.
2Information we collect
Account information
Your email address, a username, and password (stored securely by our authentication provider — we never see or store your password in plain text). Optionally: a short bio, a profile photo, and a personal photo gallery.
Location
When you tap "Check in" at a bar, we collect your device's GPS coordinates at that moment, along with the bar and a timestamp. We do not track your location in the background or at any other time.
Content you create
Posts (photos shared from a bar), likes, comments, star ratings, line-time reports, and security-level reports. Comments left on a bar's page are automatically deleted after 72 hours; other content (posts, ratings, your profile) is kept until you remove it or delete your account.
Social graph
The list of friends you add inside the app (by username). This determines who can see your check-ins.
Bar directory data
Bar names, addresses, hours, and photos shown in the app come from public sources (including the Google Places API) — this is business information, not personal data about you.
3How we use it
- To create and secure your account, and let you log in.
- To show you nearby bars, live line/security reports, and your friends' check-ins.
- To let you post photos, rate bars, and comment — and to show that content to other users.
- To enforce our Terms of Service and keep the community safe (for example, reviewing reported content).
We do not use your data to serve third-party ads, and we do not sell your personal information.
4How it's shared
With other users
Your username, profile photo, and bio are visible to other users. Posts, ratings, and comments you make are public within the app. Your check-ins are visible only to the friends you've added — not to the general public.
With service providers
We use Supabase to host our database and handle authentication; it processes your data solely to provide these services to us, under its own security and privacy commitments. We use the Google Places API to source bar directory information and photos.
What we don't do
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share your precise check-in location with anyone outside the friends you've explicitly added.
5Retention & deletion
Comments on a bar's page are automatically removed 72 hours after posting. Check-ins remain visible to friends for 3 hours, then stop appearing as "currently here," though the record itself persists until account deletion.
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. This immediately and permanently removes your profile, photos, posts, comments, ratings, reports, friendships, and check-in history. This action cannot be undone.
6Your choices
- Control who sees your location. Only mutual and added friends see your check-ins; simply don't check in if you'd rather not share.
- Edit or remove your content. Remove photos from your gallery, or delete your account to remove everything at once.
- Access your data. Contact us (below) and we'll provide a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
7Age requirement
BarBounce references nightlife and alcohol-serving venues and is intended for users 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 17. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
8Security
We use industry-standard practices — encrypted connections, access-controlled databases, and row-level security policies restricting who can read or write each piece of data — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
9Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.

Questions about this policy or your data: support@barbounce.app
Before you publish: replace the boxed placeholder above with a real support inbox you control. This draft was written to match BarBounce's actual data collection as of September 2026 — review it (ideally with a lawyer) before submitting to the App Store, and update it again whenever you add a feature that changes what data the app collects.
Terms of Service
Effective September 2, 2026 · Applies to the BarBounce mobile app
1Acceptance
In plain English
By using BarBounce you agree to these terms. Be respectful, don't post anything you don't own or that could hurt someone, and know that bar info in the app comes from other users and isn't guaranteed.
By creating an account or using BarBounce, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
2Eligibility
You must be at least 17 years old to use BarBounce. BarBounce does not sell, serve, or deliver alcohol, and does not verify the age of any user for the purposes of alcohol consumption — separately, always follow the law and the venue's own policies regarding minimum drinking age.
3Your account
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information when you sign up, and keep it up to date. One account per person.
4Content & conduct
Your content, your license to us
You own the photos, comments, ratings, and other content you post. By posting, you grant BarBounce a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and store that content within the app for as long as your account exists.
Don't post
- Content that's illegal, harassing, hateful, or threatening.
- Content that impersonates someone else or infringes their rights.
- Spam, or anything you don't have the right to share.
- Anything sexually explicit or that exploits or endangers anyone.
Reporting & blocking
You can report content or block another user directly in the app. We review reports and may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

5Bar info disclaimer
Line times, security levels, hours, and similar details are reported by users or sourced from third parties (like the Google Places API) — we don't independently verify them. Conditions change quickly. Always confirm directly with the venue before making plans around this information.
6Alcohol & safety
BarBounce is a discovery and social tool — it does not sell, serve, promote excessive consumption of, or otherwise facilitate access to alcohol. Nothing in the app is intended to encourage drinking beyond what's legal or safe. Drink responsibly, know your limits, and arrange safe transportation. You use any venue you visit at your own risk and subject to that venue's own rules.
7Location sharing
Checking in at a bar shares your location and the time of your check-in with the friends you've added in the app. This is entirely optional — you choose when to check in, and you can stop at any time simply by not checking in again.
8Third-party services
BarBounce displays bar information and photos from the Google Places API and relies on Supabase for backend infrastructure. We aren't responsible for the accuracy of third-party data or for the availability of these services.
9Disclaimer
BarBounce is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any bar information is accurate or current.
10Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BarBounce and its creators aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including anything that happens at a venue you visit or discover through the app.
11Termination
You may stop using BarBounce and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
12Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app evolves. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do.
13Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [Your state/country], without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
